What is NTFS & FAT32 File System:

NTFS (New Technology File System) & FAT (File Allocation Table) are both Spcially used in Windows OS File System that Organizes Storage Data. Microsoft has created both these file systems. NTFS & FAT32 is used for both file system storage. The encryption & Auto Repair feature is available in NTFS. Whereas no such feature is found in FAT32.

Features Of NTFS:

  • Storage Partition Upto 2TB
  • Auto Repair Technology
  • Data Encryption

Feature Of FAT32:

  • Storage Partition Upto 4GB
  • Pre-Installed on any USB Key

Difference Between NTFS & FAT32:

Fault Tolerance: Feature of NTFS File System Fault Tolerance is available i.e. if a file is corrupt or power fails. So NTFS repairs the data by itself. While no such feature is found in FAT32.
Storage Partition: is the largest Failure of FAT32, in this only you can do Partition up to 4GB. Whereas in NTFS you can do Disk Partition up to 2TB.

Storage Consumption: If you store a file in FAT32 Disk, then that file does more storage Consume. Whereas in NTFS this is very rare. For example- If you save 10MB of the file in FAT32 storage, then it consumes about 11MB of storage. But in NTFS, it is stored in only 10.21 MB. OS Installation: OS can be installed in both file systems. But NTFS is best for OS installation. Because it has the feature of Auto Repair.
